Insalata Caprese


  • 3 large tomatoes, cut 1/4 inch thick slices
  • 1 pound of fresh mozzarella, cut 1/4 inch thick slices
  • 20-30 fresh basil leaves
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Coarse salt and pepper
  • Balsamic vinegar (optional)


1. On a large plate layer, alternate slices of tomatoes and mozzarella, adding a basil leaf between each layer.

2. Finish by drizzling with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

3. If desired, drizzle with balsamic vinegar.
